Main Tournament Rules
5 Main Rules:
No mulligans (obviously)
No breakfast balls either. This is legit!
No gimmes
Putt everything in!
Play everything as Red stakes, not White
Go to where your ball entered the hazard or native area, drop your ball within 2 club lengths from the hazard line, count your 1 penalty stroke, and hit your next shot
Courses we will be playing have a ton of “native areas” or places where there should be red stakes but they don’t have them marked everywhere – this just simplifies everything
If your ball didn't fully cross a canyon or a water hazard or a native area, you can't go over to the other side and drop (unless there is a designated, marked "Drop Zone" on that hole, which we will confirm with the course before the round)
Max score anyone can take on an individual hole is a 10
Pick, clean, and place in FAIRWAYS only. Play everything down (no adjusting lies, etc.)
Unless we deem “Winter Rules” are in play before a certain tournament, which would likely be the case in March/April tourneys
Handicaps
We play Net Stroke Play tournaments - so your Gross score minus your Course Handicap for that week (based on the course and tees).
We use the USGA GHIN Handicap system - keep a current handicap!
Handicaps are calculated by averaging the Differential of your 8 best scores out of your last 20 rounds. If you don't have 20 rounds, your handicap is calculated per the below table.
Point Scoring & Payout Structure
Each member is putting in $60 toward the season "winnings" bucket - so 24 members total makes $1,440 in the pot this season.
Each dollar = 1 point in our season standings.
So, 1,440 points to earn throughout the year across 6 tourneys in 2023. Three of our tourneys this year (4 next year) will be designated "Majors" and will be worth more points relative to the non-majors.
Each tournament, the Top 6 Net scores will earn points according to the table below - 1st place earns 115 for a Major and 77 for a Non-Major, etc.
Points will be accumulated throughout the year and a Season Standings will be shown weekly on our website - the Season Champ is whoever ends the season with the most points accumulated.
Finances
League finances are simple – everyone pays for their own green fees each tournament (Venmo @danny-jones-2), and “league entry” is $101 total
$36 covers your USGA GHIN membership connected to UGL
$5 goes toward the coveted Blue Jacket for the season champ
$60 goes straight to final standings payout structure
